Controlled Application of Oilfield Chemicals to Reduce Exposure in CO

by | Jun 1, 2022 | Business

Environmental exposure is always a concern when you work with flammable and potentially hazardous materials. There are dozens of regulations that stipulate how to handle oilfield chemicals safely, both on the job and in machines. When you are personally working with oilfield chemicals there are some means of application that can help control spills, leaks and environmental exposure.

Siphon Systems

Siphon systems use a pump and hose to deliver controlled amounts of a chemical to a machine or machine component. In this way, you are able to control the amount of chemical used and remove the possibility of too much chemical hitting the ground or being released into the air. The pump pulls the chemical from a container, moves it through a hose or pipe system and then delivers the chemical to where it is supposed to go. It is a very clean method of delivery.

Manual Delivery

Manual delivery utilizes squeeze bottles or tubes with a liquid or gas chemical inside. You apply the chemical through a nozzle on the bottle or tube to an open port on your oilfield equipment. This method allows you to apply as much or as little of a chemical as you think the machinery needs. However, over-squeezing can deliver a small excess of chemical that may drop on the ground or be released in the air. Be sure to cover the ground with a tarp if possible prior to working and wear proper protective equipment.
