Does your child spit up constantly, especially after they have just finished eating? Do they seem irritable or begin to scream in pain when placed on their backs to sleep? If you can say yes to these questions, you should consult with their pediatrician to find out if they suffer from GER, gastroesophageal reflux. There are many tricks to help your baby if they do suffer from acid reflux. One of the ways you can help is to provide them with a baby reflux pillow for sleeping that is available on the market today.

What is Acid Reflux?

In general, acid reflux is heartburn. It is when the contents of the stomach pass back up from the tummy into the esophagus or mouth of the child. This can come in the form of stomach acid or even as their milk that they have just consumed. Twenty-five percent of babies suffer from GER. The severity of the problem can be mild to severe causing them pain in their belly. The only way to know the severity of the problem is to speak with their doctor about your concerns. The pediatrician may ask you a series of questions such as: do they have problems feeding? Do they vomit often or have problems with hiccups? Do they have times that the child will begin to cry and you cannot find any way to comfort them? Once the pediatrician determines the severity of the problem, they can either provide you with treatment options or give you tips on how to deal with GER until your child outgrows it.

A Well Rested Baby is a Happy One

As a parent, you only want your child to grow up happy and healthy. If your baby suffers from GER, especially while they are sleeping, this can make them chronically irritable. As a parent, you then begin to suffer from lack of sleep as well. You can help your baby by consulting with their doctor on ways to help make sure they are getting the rest they need. There are many natural treatments available including positioning wedges that safely elevate your baby after mealtime and during periods of rest.
